Closet

I can't believe I went for a long time with this section clumped with the OMG, THEY'RE ALIVE! section! This is the biggest part of my Gaia extended sig. It finally got big enough to merit its own page, and then its own site account o.o; In Meriko's (one of my favorite avvy editors) parlance, this was part of the Extended Sig: Avvy, but it moved out and got its own apartment XD

The Closet does have its own site account that it shares with avatar art. The sheer size of it filled the original cardinalgarnet account and prompted me to expand to another account (because I'm cheap like that). After much hemming and hawing, I decided to move the Closet out of the cardinalgarnet account and into the garnetsquared account, instead of playing around with a bunch of other pages.

For some reason, I got addicted to collecting avi edits. Not that it's unusual (although my non-Gaia-playing friends think so...they're just pixels! >.<). Some people have far bigger collections than mine. I started out with freebies (Meriko's edit). Then, one day, I decided to take a look at the Rejected Material shop that I keep seeing in the minishops forum. I found that it has these incredibly cute outfits that you can mix and match with your edit. It's always full, so I stalked other shops for a while.I looked for shops that have cute, quality avvy edits (with nice prices >.<), and I like to think that I've maintained that standard. Then I noticed that I keep going back to the same avvy stores and ordering outfits that I've previously passed up. But the quality is there, nonetheless. I guess I've just become less picky over particular outfit styles as time went. Behold my cute avvy edits !

You will see my commentaries on each batch of edits I got from each avatar edit artist. However, there came phases when I did not update this section for long periods of time. During these breaks, I amassed so many avatar edits that I lost count of them. They languished in an uploads folder. For batches of edits caught up in these break, I sometimes marked them such instead of putting a commentary about my experience getting them. That's because I can't remember how I got them xD. But rest assured, all of these were purchased using my hard-earned Gaia gold.

And yes, the Closet is multi-page . In the process of moving the Closet to its own site account, I finally decided (with great reluctance) to make the Closet and the Adopteds multi-paged. It takes forever to load all images for each section. Believe me, I held out for as long as I could.

These avi edits were done by Meriko. She has a shop, but she also made some free pirate art for members of the Pirates Against Flaming Guild, of which I became a member during my Q&F forum days. The red pirate was my very first avvy edit ^^ The blue pirate came with the slew of edits that you see below.

Ah. Um. Yeah. Second-biggest avvy edit order ever, at 22 edits for a total of 5750g    Meriko and Kimini (yeah, they run the shop together) has some of the best avvy edits around. Their stuff's just amazing >.< Only custom-color here is the gown in the fifth row, third from the left >.< Custom-color is basically when we request our edits to have colors that are different from the sample ^^ In my case, I usually request edits to be custom-colored red ^^

This is part one of the biggest avvy edit order that I ever made (or will ever make) XD Meriko and Kimini has the largest selection of avvy edits, and over time, I came to like about 98% of them XD Their lists aren't open much, so I would pass time working on my order so I'll be ready to post when they open. And even then, I end up adding a few more edits to my posted order XD This order had 47 edits and cost 15,200g O.O Poor Meri XD

The edits here were made with my regular wig, with the exception of the Galadriel edit (second row, first from left) and the Arwen edit (second row, second from left). The Arwen edit is special. It's after the elfin Arwen of the Lord of the Rings. But Arwen is also the name of an original character that I have. In my story, Arwen has black hair and golden eyes ^^ Couldn't resist working that into the Arwen edit ^^

All edits in the first row are Disney cosplays. The ones in the last row are all Final Fantasy VII edits. Going from left to right is Aeris, Tifa, Aeris in her Wall Market attire, and Tifa in her Wall Market attire ^^ The Aurora edit and the Arwen edit were custom-color.

Part two of my biggest edit order. I finally decided that it's high time for me to use wigs, because Meri and Kimi has lots of nice wigs to choose from. I finally settled on the Padme wig and figured it's dressy enough for my formal edits (and will look better than my ordinary avvy hair). All red edits here, except for the one in the second row, fourth from left, were custom-color. Some of these edits came from Meriko's mix-and-match wedding set; I'm just too lazy to point them out XD I didn't even know they're mix-and-match (and haven't realized the magic of custom-color on them) until recently ^^ Hee, the last two rows remind me of the adage "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride." They're all incredibly pretty, though ^^ The edit in the fifth row, third from left, suffered from my naming block (I ran out of wedding dress names) and got labeled as the hubby number two edit XD

Meri graciously let me add to my posted order after she came out with the Turk wig. I like it a lot, especially since her model came with my exasperated eyes, so I got to preview what it would look on my avvy XD I figured it'll be a good wig for sporty edits. The wig came with the female Turk (a Final Fantasy VII villain, employed by the evil Shinra company), which is the edit in the first row, first from left ^^

I amassed these edits during my long break, when I did not update this site for a long time. Lots of edits, eh? That's not even the half of the edits I accumulated across different avatar edit collections. I have also gotten more into wigs as well, such as the Turk wig (the short one, named after Final Fantasy VII. Meriko released them around the time Advent Children was released, I believe), the Padme wig (named after Padme Amidala), the Gojyo wig (I really don't know Gojyo, but I guess since he's a male character, it's kinda weird for my avatar to wear his hair. But I like it anyway), and the white priestess wig. Around this period also, Meriko became a Gaia moderator. She totally deserves it ^^.

*hee* Lots of different variations on the same gowns, but I love them all. This order was filled by Kimini. It was a long wait, but it was well worth it. I'm fine with orders that take a while, as long as my trades aren't completely finalized. I posted the order before some of the gowns here were released. Since I was under the edit limit, I just added them and left it to Kimini's discretion to fill them. She did ^^. So exciting. I like receiving gowns like these ^^.

My first Thank You edit from Meriko XD It works like the Gaia thank-you donation letter. You order an avatar edit during a certain month and get a "bag." At the end of the month, Meriko or Kimini will stop taking orders for that month and dress up your avatar in a new scene edit, which will never be available after that month ^^. The bag will transform into the new edit.

The bags and the edits they transformed into are right next to each other ^^.

These are scene edits I got or purchased from Meriko. I really think the Stargate one with the glasses is growing on me ^^.

Meri and Kimi have now retired from avatar-editing. The shop is now called M+K Inc., which I guess signifies a coalition of avatar editors. Bridgechan also merged her shop into M+K Inc. The editors primarily filling orders right now are Tinelle and LadyDelaidra. It's become a trend it seems for retired avatar editors to hire people to take over the shop and fill edit orders. Of course, the graphics are all there, but the original creators are no longer filling orders. It's very nice to see open ordering threads for M+K for a change. I remember the good old days when we would go grabby-grab for slots because they're so scarce. Now I finally managed to be up-to-date on the latest edits, as well as order old edits that I haven't had a chance to order before. Also, lately I've been noticing that there's a lot of edits that involve unconventional poses. The avatar editors are really improving their mad editing skillz.

Some more edits from M&K Inc. The top are edits that I overlooked before. The middle shows my different Gaia hairstyles for the I <3 Silky Slimes poster thingy. The bed edit is another symbol of how obssessed I am with both avatar edits and silky slimes. I like the bed edit actually because my bed actually kinda looks like that with the red comforter and the white sheets and pillows. And I do have a brown teddy bear on it. And Grumbles, my black cat, rarely leaves the bed.

The last edit up there is the one that I commissioned from Bridgechan. For a long time now I wanted to give some sort of award to very good avatar edit artists who sell their edits for reasonable prices and/or provide great customer service. It made me feel all fuzzy inside to see that my award was well-received by the avatar editors whom I gave it to ^^.

These awesome edits are from Rejected Material. Well, that's the name of the shop. It's run by NoFlutter, who's probably one of the best avvy editors in the business. I always see the shop on the first page of the minishops forum because people are always hanging out in it. It also always has a full waitlist, and I never thought I'd be able to get a spot. Then NoFlutter turned over the edits to Bibutterfly, and suddenly the list was open. Hence my edits. But now it's closed up again :gonk: I guess it's just about being at the right place at the right time ^^; The pirate kitty is a freebie from their shop <3 This was the first shop where I can mix and match edits ^^ Mix-and-match shops involve having a bunch of clothing pieces, available in various colors, and you get to put together your own avvy edit yourself, as opposed to ordering an entire pre-made outfit ^^ It takes a lot of time to put mix-and-match orders together, but I think that's half the fun ^^

I stalked the Rejected Material shop for a while because after I got my order, the order list got closed again :ninja: Finally, it opened up while Gaia's still finishing up the rollback. Ah, at least something good came out of the rollback >.< I had to hunt back through the posts to see Bibutterfly's confirmatory "List is open!" message ^^; The mage you see in the middle is a pre-made edit. It's one of the more expensive edits I've ever ordered, at 1.5k, but I just love the pointy hat with the candle <3

Bibutterfly was nice enough to make these right after she made my second order <3 I wanted to see how the black and pink bunny hats would look with curly hair, and I wanted a couple more pirate edits and grand outfits ^^ I'm really excited to get all these edits from Rejected Material, as they are usually famous for having full order lists ^^

Is it obvious that I'm hooked on the plushie hats? ^^ After giving the hats a couple of tries, I decided to try again, this time with a new wig that made them look much better, as my original avvy hair is too flat for the hats ^^ I think I pretty much ordered every single outfit that NoFlutter has in her shop XD Well, until the next edit, anyway. And except for the special costumes, the gypsy, and the Ren outfits. Hmm, I guess there's stil a lot left. Anyway, Bijoux du Saine was the one who made these edits. She just joined the board and works pretty fast, so the shop will probably be open more often now. I like these edits with this wig ^^

I amassed these edits during my long break, when I did not update this site for a long time. Akin to Meriko, around this time, NoFlutter got modded. She deserves it too. It's nice to see that great avatar edits are recognized for their contribution to Gaia. Or at least, that's how I see it. During this time, NoFlutter got several other friends to help her with the edits, so I was able to order lots. Such a far cry from when I was stalking her closed shop, trying to be online at the exact moment she re-opens the store. NoFlutter also re-made lots of her edits, so I re-ordered some stuff I already got because they look so different. I especially love how she re-made her leg warmers to be much fuzzier ^^.

Even though the edits below came before these edits, I feel this should go up here because they my are very first avvy edit commissions. I supplied the pictures and the instructions, and Disciple of Sakura made the edits. So these are pretty much unique (I think... ^^;). I was impressed by her previous commissions, so I decided to give it a try. I always wanted Alice's uniform from Alice 19th. Also, I couldn't remember seeing an avvy edit of the Seiryuu no Miko from Fushigi Yuugi. While looking for the Seiryuu pictures, I found a nice picture of Miaka as a priestess and also of Nuriko in her gir form. I threw those in >.< After that, it was a wait, but I think it was worth it. Well, I got them, right? >.< Also, they look just great ^^ I got a discount for providing good reference pictures too. Yay! ^^

And after I got my custom edits from Disciple of Sakura, I scrolled down her front page to find out that she actually has pre-made outfits in her wedding boutique o.o So I did an about-face and put in a new order. Whee. All these are custom-color ^^

And these adorable avvy edits are from Janshee's shop. She has a relatively small shop compared to NoFlutter, but she also has some of the cutest edits I've seen. I believe these pajamas are from Pita Ten, an anime that I have but never got around to watching ^^; I ordered the first and second edits, from left, first. The third one came with my second batch of edits ^^

My second batch of edits from Janshee   This is pretty much the rest of her shop. Aren't her edits cute? I love how it has considerable detail. She mentioned that she might be closing shop soon, so I hurried and got all of them while I can >.<

I amassed these edits during my long break, when I did not update this site for a long time. Janshee's shop became much more popular than the first time I came there, and she made new edits. I always like her work because they're made on such a fine scale.

Last edits I ordered from Janshee. Her shop is now closed, and she will be dearly missed. I love the fine details on her edits. It's something that I usually don't see in today's avatar edits.

Avi edits by Sashanaru <3 I've seen her moogle edits around, but like most artwork here, I put back buying from her store for a while. Finally, I went for it when I was on this avatar-edit-buying spree ^^ Sashanaru's store, Sashique, offers these great zodiac edits. Notice my Capricorn edit? <3 That one and the third edit, with me in a kimono, are custom-color<3 I like red and pink ^^

What makes Sashique a unique store is that Sashanaru offers NPC edits. These are people who man the stores of Gaia or create drama in the Gaia storyline ^^ The graduate is the exception in this row ^_~ That's just for me ^_~

One of my giant orders for Sashanaru XD "Giant orders" for me used to be over five edits. Now it's over 15 edits o.o; Custom-colors are the one in the first row, fifth from the left, and second row, second from the left. The pajamas came from a mix-and-match set ^^

This is my oh-noes-I'm-so-broke-I-got-only-50g edit from Sashanaru. Of course, I wouldn't have afforded this if I got only 50g, as her edits range from 300g to ~500g. I got these the following day, after I managed to sell some donation letters and raise my gold level a bit. Pretty tiny order compared to my previous ones O.o

After getting caught up on uploading my avatar edits, I celebrated and went out and got over a hundred more avatar edits xD. These are Sashanaru's most recent works. She too got modded, and I'm amazed by how these mod/shopkeepers are able to maintain their shops ^^.
